You should not take Doxycycline if you are taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within 14 days of taking Doxycycline or within 14 days of not taking it. You should not take Doxycycline if you have taken more than 14 days of monoamine oxidase inhibitor or an MAOI within 14 days of taking Doxycycline. You should not take Doxycycline if you have taken Doxycycline with other medications that could potentially affect the effects of Doxycycline. Doxycycline Hyclate interactions:
Doxycycline should be used with caution in the treatment of diseases associated with prolonged QT interval. If doxycycline is taken in combination with penicillin or any other antibiotic, it may cause serious long-lasting effects on the heart. If doxycycline is taken in conjunction with beta-lactam antibiotics or any of the penicillin combinations, it may cause serious long-lasting effects on the heart. Long-lasting effects may be permanent. It is important that patients not to self-medicate to prevent interactions between doxycycline and antibiotics. The patient should always be treated with caution and as directed by the doctor. It is also important that patients continue taking the antibiotic as prescribed even if the symptoms disappear within a few days. If the symptoms are severe or do not improve after a few days, the patient should be closely monitored and advised to stop taking the antibiotic. Doxycycline should not be given to patients taking clarithromycin, erythromycin, norfusidic acid, tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, any of the following antibiotics: cephalosporins, fluoroquinolones, aminoglycosides, fluoroquinolones, cephalosporins, penicillins, nelfusidin, nalidixic acid, or cephalosporins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics. Doxycycline should not be given to patients with severe liver disease and jaundice; the patient should be carefully evaluated for the use of doxycycline in this population and closely monitored for the emergence and development of resistant strains. In cases of hypersensitivity to doxycycline or other similar antibiotics, doxycycline may be used. Do not give doxycycline to patients with renal insufficiency; the patient should be closely monitored for the emergence and development of resistance to doxycycline. In children, the recommended dose for doxycycline is 100 mg/kg twice a day, but a higher dose may be administered. Do not give doxycycline to patients with an active peptic ulcer. Doxycycline is excreted in urine and faeces in the form of a white powder.
